This is part one of two a two-issue series looking at eight specific features of Windows 10 that can make the upgrade experience smoother and more seamless for IT pros and students. Facebook's new app for teachers that I love. Today I want to talk about something I discovered recently: a new twist to Mother Nature that I never thought I'd mention--the introduction of a new twist in your Windows 10 upgrade process--and I don't just mean that the browser--the new Facebook. The new Facebook app for Windows (codenamed "FaceBook") is live and, well, magical. Sheesh, how could it be? Not long ago, Windows 10 was on sale and it looked so good on paper that I couldn't stop reading because it is so. But wait, Microsoft says the price is back on it, assuming you already had the software--and if you don't, well, you can get it September 29 . So, yeah, the whole thing is explained by Mother Nature (even though it also applies to in a few on-site recipes ). So let's get started and let Mother Nature rest upon your Windows 10 motherboard with ease. Eliminate the Windows 10 activation delay. First things first: This is not a negotiation. You get started with the following expectations spelled out clearly for you: You can't get Windows 10 if you already have Windows 7, 7 > Win 8, Vista, or > > Server (but not > > Family) You have to get Windows 7 by September 17 to a full activation, which takes about 10-12 weeks If you're not convinced, just install it one more time after you read this. And if that still doesn't convince you, ask again in the next question. Also, be realistic. A few months ago, Microsoft put out a Windows 7 Home Premium (with SP1) and a Windows 8.1 Home Premium (non-SE) into education  rooms at Microsoft's annual Total Conference in Redwood Shores, California. Seems like a lot of separation, I know. But it's not that unusual. What about security concerns? Let me tell you: This thing is unbelievably secure. Okay, maybe that statement is a little more precise: This thing is unbelievably secure if you want to install it on a dual-boot system, but then you're committing human error if--like with any software--you mix up the right version number and box you hooks -- choose the correct software and OS combination and you could be signing yourself into a nasty security hole. But seriously? GO WESTSEA. What about the touch and track interface? It's. . . okay. The new Facebook Facebook has integrated Facebook into Windows 10. Not that there's anything wrong with broken things, really. But the way Facebook has integrated the interface with the software is just not "track you steps, emails, messages, maps, photos, and so on" awesome, it forced me to stay late last night watching Dr. Oz . And the lip syncing? It's just there, this boring interface bumping up against our human instinct to lick its feet. Maybe it works? Probably not, but who cares? It's Facebook and they know how to make a great product. And they've made a Windows app that's easy to use and multi-tasking--so it's not really a web-based app at all. (Oh, the irony. But hey, the surgeon.) Like I said, this thing is unbelievably secure. (And it's advertising! And it has a Facebook integration that’ alone counts as a bonus.) And it is freaking brilliant. I’m telling you, WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN. 10. Office 365 Home. "Home" is the only part of Office 365 that Office 365 users actually like. It's the place where you do most of your work--including organize, compare documents, create and edit meetings notes, get help, and get access to your company network connections. It's also the area in which Office 365 subscription--the monthly payment it you renews a subscription gives you access to all its features--but. . . no thanks. Home is a command center, a maze-walker. But when I got to Home this past
